Not a good sign for any exciting new hardware today. ;)

Has Apple ever introducted a redesigned model (not just a spec change) without a momentum-building media event? Doesn't seem like it would be good for business to just quietly put your first re-design in five years on sale without some trumpets and confetti.

The actual date has to be a Tuesday before the US Thanksgiving holiday, but that's about as certain as it gets right now.

On event days, isn't it right before the event starts, though?

Anyhow, this time of the day has already passed. It's 10am now.

Yes, it's right before events on event days, but we'd have heard something if Apple was to invite even one reporter to their campus.

I'm from Indiana, but this Ireland time is screwing me up; I don't know when it is EST right now...

Its 10:03 am EST right now ;)

where exactly did this rumour originiate??

People have been saying either the 23rd or Oct. 14 on other threads. October 14th is obvious, but the other one was just a guess as far as I know.

Guess someone decided to post for today. Personally, I have a feeling about the 30th...

LoL, and on the 30th someone is going to have a feeling about the 7th...and on & on we go...

I was thinking the same thing. Eventually someone will get it right and claim they knew it all along.

I've been thinking the 30th for a few weeks now. The 29th is exactly 14 days after the iPod deal ended. That way no one can return their iPods. The next day is a Tuesday, the 30th. Makes more sense than today. I actually have no idea why people were thinking this Tuesday.

You aren't the only one. People have been guessing every Tuesday for a while. One day it will be correct.

Lol. I don't wait for every Tuesday, nor do I wake up on Tuesdays and keep refreshing the Apple page. I'll go the whole week without really paying too much attention and then realise it's a Tuesday and see if there's been any word of anything.

Whatever the deal is, I think we can all agree we hope it's soon.

What has that got to do with anything regarding new laptops?!? You think Apple is worried all those people who purchased $2-300 iPods are going to see new $2-3000 laptops and want to do an exchange?
