So um, i know this is kind of a bad rendering but i think this is completely more likely than any other mactouch design i've seen so far:D. a full size keypad (not a pop-up keypad on the screen) is a must in a portable computer. but this also can do the full touchscreen tablet concept. anyways, give some positive feedback and tell me what you think!:p

Possible specs:
13.3'' glass m.t. screen
SuperDrive OR remote disc to keep it thin
Full size keyboard
2usb 1firewire 1minidvi
120gb hdd standard option of sdd
Quadcore proc.
6-7 hrs batt.life
Full mac Osx snow leopard
Full wifi & BT 2
2-4 gb mem
Stylus sketching enabled
Accelerometer


That sounds pretty normal but it would be so the price could stay down about 1000
 
itd be cool if the screen had the option to come down over the keyboard, making it more like a typical tablet.

yeah it does, i just tried to imply it, well, let it be known that it does slide down over the keyboard
 
I actually really like the idea behind the concept. With the screen able to slide up (like a big touch-screen phone), it would be able to be morphed back and forth pretty easily. Those hinges, of course, would have to be sturdy as all get out.

Now, as far as how feasible this is? I have no idea. Maybe someone else will chime in on that issue.

The idea behind the screen being so adjustable is nice, but
imagine how many abused latches...
how many dents at the screen's edges...
plus, apple is about clean lines... this is almost a 3 piece laptop :D
plus, it wouldn't balance well on your lap...

Good idea, but I'm not sure if it is "Apple" enough. Reminds me a bit too much of UMPCs and mobile phones with slide out keypads, the type of thing that Apple has avoided mimicking with the iPhone.
 
Maybe I'm just old school, but I still prefer a trackpad. I hope if they go this route they keep one model as a "traditional" model.
 
I know you just photoshopped (sp?) the leopard desktop in, but I just wanted to note that a touch computer would probably have a different UI. Right now 10.5 is designed to be used with a mouse and an on-screen arrow. That arrow is a lot smaller than your finger or a stylus, making Leopard difficult to use with your 10 digits. So either Apple would make 10.5 more graphic-based, or incorporate something that looks similar to the iPhone OS if they made a computer like this.

Good mockup, just making a general comment on the "touchbook" design.

yeah I definatly agree with u. It would be a different interface to be more user friendly, but I just wanted to get the idea out. I'm just to lazy to spit out a new interface, although it would be cool to have 'cloud' navigation like on the mojave experiment site for their videos. Haha mojave... Lame way of tricking people.:p
 
I don't think we'd see quad core processors in something that thin. (Try one in a Macbook Air :eek: )

But your design is completely feasible. Although I'd say screw styluses (styli??) and go with the hands. Like a slogan "The world at your fingertips." Or something of the sort...haha just a suggestion.

also i would think that running multiple programs and having a full, crisp responsive multitouch UI would require a bit more bite. but i may definatly be wrong on price, but alright.:rolleyes:

What would be nice is if they bundled it with the normal Leopard desktop, and an Ubuntu Netbook Remix type OS that would activate when switched to tablet mode.
