I've been wanting a Mac since I became so amazed with the iPod Touch I own. I was set on buying a new Mac notebook and was simply waiting for the update, but then I saw this

http://gizmodo.com/5047867/sony-vaio-aw-laptop-with-adobe-rgb-screen-is-a-photographers-dream

A Sony Vaio 18.4" 1080p notebook with a screen that can reproduce 137% of the adobe rgb color gamut. One reviewer said it gave 180 degree viewing angles but didn't go much into detail about the screen, but given that it gives 180 degree viewing angles at 137% of the adobe rgb color gamut its most likely an ips screen.

If Apple can deliever a macbook pro under $2300 with a similar screen I will scream like a little girl and post pictures of Jobs in my room with candles. Anyone with me?

I think this has come up before, and the general consensus was that nobody manufactured 15.4 or 17 IPS or SPVA displays, so Apple had nowhere to source them from.

Did anyone manufacture 18.4" IPS displays with 3led before Sony released this laptop? As far as I know, the answer is no.

A Dell leak shows that led rgb screens are going to be optional on their XPS line, it remains to be seens whether or not they stick with tn, but who currently manufacturers led rgb screens? Well Sony has a source for the 18.4" laptop, but its only a month before and who made them before nobody?

My point is that just because we haven't seen a 15.4" or 17" IPS display doesn't mean it can't be a "first" in an Apple notebook.
