Changing VLC to be the default player for videos!

I tried going into the QT prefs and taking AVI out of the list...but the AVI's still open in QT. How do I make VLC the default player for AVI videos? Thanks

Go into Finder, select an .avi file, Get Info (Command + I), Open With > select VLC > Change All (Use application to open all documents like this.).

Choose any .avi file you have, Get Info > Open With > choose VLC.app > Use this application to open all files of this type > Change All
