Doesn't that seem a bit quick to anyone? I use my laptop almost primarily on battery power over the course of the day when I'm at school...Any ideas?

You're fine. A brand new battery hovers in the upper 90's for health. 99% is excellent.

This is something that pops up regularly. Until the battery level drops below 95% I think it does not go back to 100%.

Run your Mac on battery until it goes to about 90%, then reconnect and all should be well.

try calibrating your battery and reading again,, but then again,, 99% it's nothing to worry about..like most people have said, mine went down to96 really quickly but it has been at 92% for more than 4 months now...and after i calibrate it look...

I'm using istat pro. I was just worried that since its a brand new computer that the battery shouldn't lose health so quickly, BUT if it'll correct itself with calibration (which I've yet to do), then no biggie.

they're talking about the battery health, not the charge.

i use istat pro too. even the very first day i had the computer, the battery health was 97. the next time i charged it, it said 100. battery health just fluctuates, and no program is a perfect gauge.

use it, and enjoy it. if the battery really does go bad, Apple is great about replacing defective ones (while under warranty)

sweet widget! Says mine is 100% health, 99% charge, 6 cycles.

jeebus you guys… 1%? ive done 28 cycles on my MacBook Pro Core Duo's 3rd battery and its down to 90%. spare a little empathy for me please. my Macbook Pro has always been a lemon though.

mine says its 100% health but the battery only last about 2 -1/2 hours if unplugged,, before it used to last about 3 1/2 during the same classes doing the exact same thing no biggie tho, the computer it's almost 2 years old now so i am still okay with that

Whoa! I just checked my 2 yr old blackbook:

100% Health, 100% charge, 576 cycles! I do still get over 4 hrs from a single charge. I guess the secret is to calibrate it on nearly every cycle, cuz that's what I've been doing.

I've got a question along these lines. I just bought a new MacBook and I want to keep the battery as healthy as possible.

What's the best way to do that? I understand calibrating it every month or so, but for everyday usage? For example, I'm at work now and the MacBook is sitting at home, off and plugged in. Is this the best way to keep it? What about sleeping and plugged in (as that's usually how I leave it)?

I've apparently been pretty successful at keeping my battery healthy. I'm a student, on the go a lot, and my MB has never been plugged in for longer than 15 hrs, and that's generally just thru the night. I like to unplug it within a few hrs after it reaches full charge, but more importantly, I almost never plug it back in until the low-battery warning pops up. I try to do the same with cell phones. These lithium-ion batteries seem to last longest when they go thru a full cycle VERY often.

If true, that is the best I have ever heard. Congrats.

Thanks! And yes, it's true, unless this istat pro widget is lying to me. I tend to believe it tho because the battery in my blackbook ALWAYS lasts a long time and I've been rather OCD about caring for it.

On my old MB I had 100% health (never ever changed) until the 55th charge, then it dropped to 99%.

Wow! I'm definitely following your lead when I get my new machine. Looks like that new AluBook (MacBrick?) of yours is in excellent hands!

lol, thanks! Yeah I was actually a little dismayed the other day when my (MacBrick ;)) battery was showing an expectancy of 3 hrs right after unplugging, but I had some stuff running and my screen was on full bright. I turned the screen down low and the expectancy jumped to over 5 hrs! These screens are power hogs. ...but beautiful!
