Hi all,

I was just noticing on my shiny new unibody MacBook Pro that the glass trackpad is uneven. At the bottom left side, it's basically flush with the surrounding case. But then it dips down on the bottom right to below the surrounding case. Is this normal, and has anyone else seen the same?

Mine's the same. The difference is so small that I wouldn't worry about it. We're talking about a couple of hairs difference in height.

Same for me too, on level with the body on the bottom left but slightly lower (like half a millimeter) on the bottom right.

The top is even however.

My 2007 MBP is the same.

It's a shame Apples build quality is so bad.

Oh come on! The difference is a couple of human hairs (literally, it's less than 1mm) on a part that moves and where perfect alignment doesn't matter. If you really think this is bad quality I'd like to see a mass produced product that is better. This isn't saying Apple is perfect but this amount of complaining is ridiculous.

Either people are way too anal about their stuff or they just don't have better things in life...

My MBP is uneven too but i'm not gonna sit all day worrying about it.

Mine is about half an mm lower on the right. Initially I had decided to live with it but then noticed the screen had issues so it had to back.

Idea!

Hello, everyone. I know I'm new here, but I recently had the same problem.
The Geniuses tried to make it look like it was fine, but I convinced them to send it to the repair depot...works every time...
Now I wait for it to come back. I hope this little life story helps!

Can someone post a picture? I want to see what some people here consider to be "bad Apple build quality".

I really do.

Yes. Mine is like that.

I removed the battery to try to realign the trackpad. It seems like it is a design issue and problem can't be fixed without a new trackpad.

So much for apple quality.

I have the same thing, except it is lower on the left. I can certainly live with it, but it's kind of a nuisance. The way I hold my hand, when I click with my thumb I have to press a noticeable amount more in order to get the click. It also seems to vary as to how far it is recessed.

Oh, for crying out loud.

The OCD is really ridiculous sometimes.

I would hate to see how these people react when something real actually goes wrong.

If i paid Apple's super high prices i'd expect my machine to be damn near perfect.

I like how people tout that Apple's expensive computers are worth the cost because of their superior build quality, but if anyone complains about obvious manufacturing flaws it's blasphemy. Stop drinking the coolaide.
