Hi all,

I have just received one refurbished BlackBook and one refurbished MacBook Pro.

I noticed that when I download the same widget, the BlackBook is much slower around 20-30 kbps while the MacBook Pro downloads at 120-140kbps. Both of them are side by side and are on wireless. The BlackBook is relatively nearer to the wireless router.

Both are using the same Airport Card. I thought this is the one that should make all the difference for internet surfing/download?

BlackBook specs:
Model Name: MacBook
Model Identifier: MacBook4,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 3 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 800 MHz
Boot ROM Version: MB41.00C1.B00
SMC Version: 1.31f0

MacBook Pro Specs:
Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro4,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.6 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 6 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 800 MHz
Boot ROM Version: MBP41.00C1.B03
SMC Version: 1.27f1

Any reason why? Is my BlackBook screwed?

no your BB is fine. Faster Processor = Faster Webpage download times

pretty simple

That is not true. My 3.4ghz vista core 2 quad has the same speeds as my 2.5ghz xp celeron machine.

There is something else at play with your computer. The speeds should be really close. It could be the path that one takes to get to the website. Run multiple speed tests on both machines then average them for each machine. They should be close. I am not sure what the problem is but just because one is 2.4 and the other is 2.6 is not the problem
