Usually I get in the 30-40Mbps down range, even with 4+ bars on AT&T.

Today I got 193Mbps down, albeit line of sight to a tower, about a mile away

Is this an indication of higher speeds starting to roll out or was it simply because I had a direct view of the tower?

Time of day may be a factor. I'm usually getting somewhere between 200 to 350mbps or so on T-Mobile (slower during times of high use during the day). I was up at 3am last night and decided to do a test. Amazingly, I saw 470mbps at that time (less network congestion I suppose).

Just a few weeks ago, the best I saw in the middle of the night was about 333. So, I would say yes, speeds are getting better.

I don't really focus on speed so long as I can smoothy stream video when needed. Anything above 25Mbps is good enough for HD. Anything faster and it is just about number chasing. 5G speed has been fine in my area.

Iirc, 4K from most official streaming sites caps at 25Mbps and 1080p is typically 5-8Mbps. I'm pretty sure my wireless plan is capped at 720p/2-3 Mbps anyway.

My main desire for 5G is it should be more efficient which is better for when network congestion is high. Getting 20-30 Mbps from 5G is already a vast improvement over the sub-5 Mbps I get with LTE.
