Just curious if anybody on Verizon who has a actual 5G Sim card installed, does it show 5G in the upper right hand corner of your 12/12Pro when Verizon shows 5G Nation Wide for your location? Verizon shows 5G nationwide for my immediate location, but I have never received 5G nationwide service or any indication in the upper right hand corner of my iPhone 12 pro. Just curious if anybody else experiencing the same. I do have 5G Auto set and even tried 5G on for voice and data. No dice

It says I am, but I never see the 5G icon in the upper right hand corner of screen, just checking see if anybody else is seeing the same thing.
No, it doesn't really say that. It says the area you are in is covered by 4G LTE "or" 5G Nationwide. Or being the key word there.

I see 5g and LTE 50/50. I’m reusing my SIM card from my 11 pro so it’s most like spotty coverage at the moment. The phone is designed to use LTE unless it really needs 5g to save battery so even if you are showing 5g chances are you’re using LTE anyway. I’m on an old 8gb data plan too so 5g does work on old plans (not that I’ve been able to tell a bit of difference). I would need an unlimited plan to get UW 5g but it’s not in enough places to matter for probably several years.

Methinks you’re onto something. I’m gonna drive around the city some more and see if I get a change, and if not I’m gonna be really, really sore at Verizon. Though I’m now on a new unlimited plan for $80 and after taxes and fees it’s $95 for my iPhone 12 and my watch maybe I’ll just keep it.

When is Massachusetts getting 5G?

I’d like to use it on my Pro Max in 2 weeks.

If I’m not connected to WiFi, it says 5G. But, maybe I’m misunderstanding the question.

You have 5G coverage. Not all of us do. Verizon's coverage map shows some areas to have 5G Nationwide coverage but the fine print says 'includes 4G LTE' and our phones indeed show LTE not 5G in those areas. The liars in the marketing dept. had a lot to say in the map drawing.

Yeah, sorry, I guess I didn’t understand what you were asking. Seems strange. SD should have 5G. Have you called them? Maybe I’ll take a drive down to SD and see where I get 5G coverage. It’s a “short” drive for me, and I love San Diego. Was just there for my honeymoon a few weeks ago.

Just realized you’re not the OP. Now I’m REALLY confused. ?

I’d say to anyone with issues, just call them. Maybe it’s a sim issue, maybe something else. Don’t know.

I am the OP with the original question. After driving around quite a bit, I am not getting the 5G icon in the upper right hand corner of my phone. Even though under cellular and cellular data options, there are options for 5G auto, 5G On an LTE, and I was just wondering why I never get the 5G icon just LTE. I have the new 5G Sim card that actually said 5G on it. Well that’s just a mystery to me. I’m trying to get through Verizon to a live person and is somewhat of a challenge.
