MBA here with (of course) limited space... I have over 5 gb of mail library that I've found, including attachments that are years old and so on. The account appears in Mail but is currently disabled-always has been, and i reinstalled mavericks from time machine a while back.

I go to delete my gmail account from Mail and it says "this account is shared using icloud," go to internet accounts and none of my mail boxes in gmail or icloud are checked. My gmail account is my apple ID, fwiw.

I DO have mail turned on for my gmail on my iphone (only for when i send something from another application because I can't use the gmail official app) but I don't see why this would lead my computer to download my whole mailbox.

one thought i've had is maybe this is a leftover library from some past mail that got upgraded. Basically, I'm wondering if it is alright to just delete the mail library outright or what is going on. thanks!

side question- is there any compelling reason to use mail.app on a macbook air?
