Hey All,

My time capsule is acting funny. I've restarted it many times, etc. It backs up just fine, and 2.4ghz works just fine as well. However, I can't get the 5ghz band to work consistently at all - forget about working fast - I just can't get it to work. It used to be be my preferred way to access the device. I think it needs to be replaced. I would prefer to not have to get a completely new drive - are most apple stores capable of giving me a new unit, but giving me the old drive? What's the policy on that? Thanks!

And when it crashes?

You need to back it up to an external USB or NAS drive if the data has any value to you.

And when the house burns down? You lose the data on that external USB / NAS. Thanks for the poor advice. I have a cloud backup service that I use as well, but it doesn't back up time machine specific files - thus, I can't just "resume" from a backup from my cloud backup service.

So yes - my data has value - and yes it's protected in at least 3 places.
