Hi guys,
I used the 5k monitor (Ultrafine) as the only display for my 15 inch pro 2019 for years and I love the experience. Never had any hiccup or lagging.
Recently, I gave this laptop to my brother, and looking for a more portable macbook. I m thinking to the M2 Air, love it size and midnight color. I m sure it enought for my simple work loads (few Safari, excel, word…) The only confuse is the smoothly with 5k monitor. Anyone have been used it can confirm?
Thank you guys

I’m afraid it’s not an exact comparison, but I did have an M1 Mac mini hooked up to one and it worked flawlessly.

A 4K display that is scaled will actually be more of a problem than 5K. If you run a 4K at 1920x1080 you will get the same performance as a 5K at 2560x1440. The difference is that a 27” 1920x1080 will look huge.

The 5K is handled by hardware but using a 27” at 2560x1440 needs to be scaled by the GPU.
