I just purchased a Mac Pro, 6core, 16gb of ram, with d700 gpus.
I am using it for 5k video editing, and noticed that when I play a quicktime clip that is 5K, in apple pro res 422, it will struggle, as in skip frames and chop up the frame rate.
It's strange because VLC will play it fine, and inside FCP X no problem, it even runs RAW R3D files at half res.
My Macbook pro has no problem with running pro res in quicktime, is it a issue with the quicktime software and the GPU in the nMP?
If someone has a nMP and some 4k or 5k Apple Prores 422 footage running at 23.98 fps, could you tell me if you get the same results?

thanks so much.
