I've done at least 4 full charges since Friday morning, so it should be "calibrated" no?
Today I woke up at 7:15am have been on the phone almost the whole time , browsing internet and about an hour of clash of clans, screen brightness about 55-60% so about 3 hours of use, and the battery is at 55%. What is going on? Is it just me or is that really bad?

Nope, battery sounds about right. 3 hours of real time usage 55%. That means you will get about 7 hours of real time usage. Sounds normal to me.

I can't tell if you're being serious, trying to be funny, or if you just haven't looked up the specs. for the phone.

we've been spoiled since the ipad 3 and kind of expect 10hrs battery life from all things apple. Problem is the phone isn't quite there yet as far as hitting true all day use, especially when you're talking gaming/talking and heavy LTE usage, due to it having to be light weight.

I have had the 5 since the first two weeks it was out, and got the 5S last Friday. I would say my battery life has been about the same as my 5 so far. I did turn of several Location Services items, if you leave them all on it's a bit aggressive, imho, and eats a lot of battery.

i turned off alot of them too.. i dont use them nor travel so i dont need time zone stuff and traffic( but maybe i should try this what is it any ways?) and compass either.

My iPhone 5S battery life is about as good as my 4s was. You people are chronic freaking complainers. Battery life is of course going to take a hit with a brand new phone and new OS. It did for the 4s too, then got better with updates. Jesus Christ!

The complaint for poor battery is always common for new devices. I think people don't realize they use more because it's new. I didn't change my usage from the iPhone 5 much and I find the battery is great :)

Dude ... you're also playing a GAME!!! Of course your battery life won't be that great.

I'm on the 5 but just wanted to say, I just rode in a van to work. I had 42% when I left and now have 31%. The ride is 20 minutes. Surfed the whole time. Brightness at 30%.

100% wifi

You do realize that when you unlock the phone you have another senor (touch ID) waking up and using power right? Depending on how much you lock/unlock the device that could have an affect of battery usage.

6-7 hours of usage is incredible for a smartphone today. You're spoiled with it. Try out the competition - your average (non extended battery 6" thick) Android phone sees 2-4 hours of usage.

I play'd Infinate blade 2 for 4 hours while my gf went shopping and it still has 40%. Not bad. Way better than my 4s. So people who are complaining maybe you should mention what your upgrading from?

I would take the bus from Boston to NY which is 4-5.5 hours depending on traffic. Full charge on my 4s and would get almost to NY just playing music with the screen off and do not distrub. I would barely be able to make a phone call to my friend when I got there. I am very happy with the battery.

Are you shutting off programs that you aren't using? This helps the battery life as well

Gameplay for 1 hour with ~3 hours of use total is pretty impressive...

I've been hitting 9 hours comfortably of WiFi browsing with >15 hours of total time off the charger with my 5s, which is an improvement over my 5. So far, very, very impressed. And this was an initial use before I ran it from 100% to 0%.

Video streaming and gameplaying will kill any battery; 6-7 hours of use with either of those being used at all is impressive for a smartphone right now.

Fail for not understanding how a battery works.....

7 hours on screen/use time is actually quite good. Not many phones out there can get that kind of battery life.

I've also found standby time to be WAY better on the 5S. My phone was unplugged for 9 hours yesterday, with about an hour of use and I was at 93%.

So far so good imo.

I wish I could use only 60% brightness I'm at 100% brightness my battery drains fast. I feel like if I switch to a lower setting it'll feel like a whole new phone but bright screens ftw

Games - especially games that may not be optimized or games using a lot of 3D - will kill the battery. I have a feeling once Apple updates their video drivers that we'll be seeing some better performance from certain games like IB3.

As others have echo'd NORMAL. I wish folks were a bit more logical before coming to the forums with crazy statements.

check your background apps.. specially when you installed google maps. this will kill your battery quickly. turn-off unnecessary apps that you think there is no needed.
