Hi folks,

Decided to take the plunge and return to an iPhone today after a decent run with Android. Gone for a 5S.

I have one reservation though.

I recall when I had my iPhone 5 and iOS 7 came out, the performance was pretty janky. Everything felt a bit stuttery. I missed iOS 6 in fact.

Could you confirm whether the 5S works better in iOS 8? Be pretty gutted getting the phone to find iOS 8 giving it a beating.

Did a fresh install of iOS 8 GM on my 5s on Saturday. So far, I've only seen a few graphic glitches, but in terms of performance, very solid. Just wait on the 3rd party app updates now.

iOS 7 is significantly more stable and smooth on the 5s over the iOS 8 gm. I have to reboot my phone every day on the gm where as on iOS 7.1.2 I would reboot every month or pretty much never. 7.1.2 is similar in smoothness and stability to iOS 6 IMO.

I recommend sticking with iOS 7 for now. I tried 8 for a couple of days and the battery life was noticeably worse. Big sacrifice to make for features that I personally would probably never use.

I'll give it another go once I see an update has been pushed and there's conformation here that battery life has stabilized.

It's funny the different experiences people have. My 5S on 8 GM is incredibly stable, battery is fantastic, no problems at all.

Think I am going to wait it out.

Prob till 8.03 or 8.1 perhaps.

It's good on my iPhone 5, and your 5S is like twice as fast as mine ...
SOMETIMES, the keyboard is really, REALLY laggy for 3-4 seconds, but this is a bug and will be fixed in the future. It doesn't prevent a normal usage of the product though.

Performance has been fine for me too, but iOS 8 has had a few bugs for me so if you want speed and reliability then stay with iOS 7 for now :)
