i just got a 5th gen touch and the volume is nowhere near as loud as the 4th gen (i still have the 4th gen too) its not the earphones i am using because they sound perfect on the 4th gen (very loud) but quieter on the 5th gen

like when i am walking outside i can hear the traffic above the music i have playing :/

i know there is some EU volume cap (i am in the UK) but i have that option disabled in settings so i don't know why it is so quiet? is there any way to make the volume louder through earphones? maybe if i jailbreak it or something idk

The thing with iOS sound is there're seperate controls for sound sound
and system [ringtones, alerts, etc.] sound. I get the volume levels on 'em
mixed-up all the time! lol Maybe one of 'em is lowered substantially than the other?

If it's not that, maybe you have a clunker and can exchange it for free for a new one. Hope I have been of some help.

I suggest AppleChat. They've been superhelpful with problems I've had
before and 9 times out of 10 solve it right then & there on the spot!: AppleChat

Just tap CHAT/SIGN IN so they have your iPod Touch info specifically,
then talk with the person in realtime to get it fixed. Good luck!
