How is it on ipad 2? I am stil on ios 5 and wonder if its time to update before ios 7 comes out. Has is battery & performance?

I remember 6.1.4 because you can't jailbreak on that ;)

But in reality, iOS gets worse and worse with battery life. I heard many stories (and they weren't fixed with patches later either) about how their battery used to be decent before iOS 6. If that's what you're most concerned about, stick to iOS 5. iOS 7 should bring mild battery performance back, but can't say yet, as it probably depends on the device too.

Also, performance will be worse for sure, if you're on the iPad 2. I read another comment of an iPad 2 owner who said he was sorry he updated it to iOS6, because it lags a bit now.
 
I've updated my iPad 2 to iOS 6.1.3 (which is the latest version) and have seen no loss in battery performance.

No lag, no drag in browser response either. Actually, it seems a bit faster.

Google Maps never got the location of my home correct. Apple Maps does.

All in all, am pleased with the update.
