I received an iPhone XR in the mail today from my employer as a work phone. I currently use an XS Max as my peronal.

I have to say using the XR has been a pleasure. The 6.1 inch screen really hits a sweet spot. I don’t feel like I’m losing a lot of screen space and one hand typing is MUCH easier.

im considering getting the 6.1 inch iPhone 12 later this year because of this.

I agree to be honest, I think it’s about big enough to suit most users. I think the mid tier iPhone 12 6.1” version will be the most popular of the lot come September. It’s the only iPhone I’m interested in currently.

Maybe for you. For me its too big for one hand operation. Thats why I ordered SE which arrives today. Perfect size for me

I'm hoping for the 5.4 iPhone 12. I currently have an 11 Pro, but I'd prefer the smaller size of the new SE, with a full screen and Face ID. Opinions vary on the perfect size and that's why it's good to have options. The 5.4 would really round out the size portfolio for the iPhone.

The reason you feel you aren’t missing anything from xs max is because you aren’t outside of the physical screen difference: they’re scaled the same so how much of a web page and content you can see on screen is identical. X/11 pro are scaled differently

I agree, I had a XR briefly and its definitely the ideal size for me and more comfortable than my XS Max. I will definitely be getting the 6.1 iPhone pro 12 this year.

5.8” is the perfect size for me. Rocking on 11 Pro. I’ll probably upgrade to the same size this year.
I feel the same but I want Pro feature so I'll be moving up to the 6.1 12 Pro when it's released. I definitely don't want a smaller phone especially if it doesn't have the latest flagship features...

I mean of course, whichever is the smallest pro model for me as well.

I didn’t realize that. I just tested and they both show the same amount of content, it’s just a tad bigger on the Max.

I mean compared to the Max it’s easier. Of course nothing can compare to the SE with one hand use.

Yeah I've had a 6.5" and a 5.8" iPhones in the past, and feel like the perfect size is somewhere just in the middle. The XR and 11 iPhones have felt pretty close. Will probably be upgrading to the 6.1" Pro this or next year.

I gotta admit OP I'm surprised you find one-handed typing comfortable in any way with the XR. I'm a former iPhone X user (a smaller iPhone) and I found that phone way too heavy and large for comfortable one-handed use. (I also have average sized adult male hands. If you have larger hands you would feel differently.)

Ideal size is strictly a personal thing that is different for each person. I'm currently an 8 Plus user and plan on getting the 12 Pro Max this fall. My eyes simply prefer the larger screen and I find typing with both hands to be super easy and fast. I pretty much never use my iPhone one-handed anymore.

I think it probably will be the 5.4" model. It will be the cheapest and people have been dying for a smaller iPhone for years now.

It’s only in comparison to the Max that’s it’s easier. Not ideal of course buts it’s better.
