The iPhone 11 Pro models currently have smaller bezels than the iPhone 11 and the bezels on the Pro models are rumored to get even smaller this year. Could this mean the 6.1” iPhone 12 will have an overall smaller design than the Xr/11?

I'd expect the same chassis will be used and will have improved internals.

I don’t think so. The 6.1” iPhone 12 will have the same dimensions as the iPhone 11. This is my opinion. Bezels on the Pro version may be thinner but i ain’t sure.

Btw i am very excited for the 5.4” iPhone 12. It looks like an iPhone SE (2nd generation) with notch. :)

I think you'll see the 5.4 and 6.1 12 use an aluminum rounded chassis where as the 6.1 and 6.7 12 Pro will use a stainless steel squared off frame similar to the shape of the new iPad Pro. Bezels should be similar in size due all phones using oled screens. Off course everything is pure speculation until more solid leaks come out

I was just thinking about this earlier. Have an 11 currently, but realized that I vastly prefer smaller phones. However, every once in a blue moon I’ll watch a tv show on my phone, and in those rare instances I appreciate the extra screen real estate.

If either of the upcoming 6.1” models are smaller and lighter than my 11, I’ll upgrade to that. If neither are, it’s down to 5.4” in for me.

I’d imagine the width to be about the same but Apple can fit in for screen because they squared off the edges compared to the 11 line.

Don’t be silly. How else is Apple going to upsell you to a iPhone 12 pro 😂

Yes, not only because of the smaller bezels, also bc the squared off edges. I can expect it to be a little bit bigger than the 5.8" 11 Pro

I’d be highly, highly surprised if the 6.1” Pro wasn’t smaller than the current 11/XR. Rumours are that the bezels will get smaller, not bigger.

Now the non-Pro models look like they’ll go OLED, I wonder if the bezels will shrink on those, too, or if it’ll be reserved for the Pro.

But would it be same Physical size as new season 20 ?

Its probably going to be a bit smaller, due to OLED panel and thus thinner bezels, and the square design taking some width away from the side chassis

So even though the display will be the same size, the phone itself may be a bit smaller

some rumours suggest only the pro models will get the square design though, so who knows.

One thing for sure is if its OLED, the bezel will be slimmer - the current XR/11 Bezel is thicker because of the limitations of LCD - Apple and Japan Display did their best but the LCD display technology itself simply is not as thin and flexible as OLED

It'll depend on the type of OLED in the non-Pro models. If Apple decides to use less expensive rigid OLED, the bezels will be the same as LCD.

For the Pro versions, the bezel is expected to shrink from the current 2.5mm to 1.5mm.

If the 6.1 inch 12 pro is likely smaller than the xr/11 due to the bezel reduction, then how will the 6.7 inch 12 pro max compare to the 6.5 inch 11 pro max I wonder. About the same size? I know the body of the pro max is the tiniest bit smaller than the old plus phones; it would be impressive if Apple can get a 6.7 inch display in a phone with a body the same size or slightly smaller than the 8 plus.

The 11 Pro Max is my first time owning a larger iPhone. While I do enjoy the ridiculously long-lasting battery life and screen size, it’s also very challenging to do a lot of things singlehandedly. This is why I’m contemplating stepping down to the 6.1” model this fall. If they can somehow manage to squeeze the new 6.1” model into a smaller body, thanks to smaller bezels, I’ll be ecstatic.

But if the 3D-printed model EverythingApplePro shows off in this video is indeed accurate, the 6.7” model will be 2.9mm taller and 0.25mm wider than the 11 Pro Max. Seems negligible but who knows what that will feel like in the hand.
