The long time X/XS/11 Pro users are again facing the decision for a second year in a row to sacrifice screen size for the 5.4” Mini or forced to adjust to the bigger boxy 6.1” iPhone 13/Pro.

I’m currently trying both phones in the return period and would love to say the 13 is workable but even as a 6’2 male it’s not possible to use the 13 one handed. It’s fine sitting at a desk, but the phone is now just balancing on my hand rather than actually gripping it.

I like many other unproductive individuals wake up and spend time on socials etc, but can no longer use my phone one handed lying down.

Any tips on how to adjust to this phone size? Will a case like the Caudabe sheath make it easier to hold, or will the additional bulk make it even worse?

So if it’s too big, and uncomfortable, then why not keep the mini instead? It seems you are trying to force yourself to keep a phone that you feel is too large. I felt the same way. I still have my XS, but tried the 12 twice, and it crossed the size threshold for me. The XS size is the largest I am willing to accept.

i feel the same way. We got a 13 pro last week and playing with it and comparing to my 12 mini with the 13 it’s a gorgeous display. It’s. Work of art. BUT you do have to balance it when one hand typing. With the mini I’m walking my dog transferring money and paying bills while walking in the AM. I couldnt do that with the 13 no way. So alas it’s mini for me or bust. Just wish they come out with a pro mini but that’ll never happen.

I bought the 12 last year and after using it for about 4 months I could never adjust to the size. I ended up buying a 12 mini. One thing going for the 12 is the speakers do sound better to me.

Just received my iPhone 13 Pro this afternoon. Been using an iPhone XS for 3 years. One thing I immediately noticed -- it's harder for me to swipe-to-delete messages in Mail one-handed, something I could easily do with the XS.

I'm thinking I just need to get used to the extra size. It's always an adjustment when you've gotten used to the way things work and something changes.

I always preferred small phones. At least I thought I did. I initially bought an iPhone 12 mini and was very disappointed. In certain places the fonts are tiny and I struggled to read them. Any adjustments were not system-wide and depended on the apps supporting the Apple API. I compared my mini with similar size Android and Windows phones and they were much better. The OS has been made to work with the smaller display and fonts were much more readable - particularly with Windows Phone. Apple has done nothing other than miniaturising its OS.

I returned the iPhone 12 mini and bought and iPhone 12 which was better. This time around, however, I took a risk and bought the big one, the iPhone 13 Pro Max. It took me no time at all to get used to the increased size and weight. It's heavy, but the heft is entirely commensurate with the increase in size so it feels right. What's more, I was very surprised that it fits in all my pockets, even in my skinny jeans. In fact, in larger pockets it feels better than the normal size iPhone because it doesn't move around as you walk. It even fitted well in my running shorts pocket - although I had purchased some Lycra undershorts with side pockets for phones.

It's all about perception. I've had the Max since day one and now when I pick up my iPhone 12 it looks ridiculously small.

I have always swiped to type and this works very well with the Max. I have never subscribed ideologically to one-handed usage and thinking about it now, without picking up the phone, I'm not sure whether I ever use a phone one-handed or not. I just don't think out it.

This is the first iPhone I have bought and been delighted with at the start and after a week or so and I can see no reason why I would return it.

Sometimes using something smaller is very nice. I occasionally go from my iPad 12.9” to a family members iPad 10.2” and that’s just a breath of fresh air — so much lighter, so much easier in the hand. Anyway I want to go to an Apple Store before deciding which iPhone to buy, but I think after 5 years of my iPhone 7 I am due an upgrade.

Coming from an XS, I actually found the 13pro to be more reassuring to hold and use in day to day usage. fwiw, I’m using the apple leather case with the 13P and it just feels at home. I was actually dead set on the 13 mini until I got a chance to use a 12mini. The size of the mini wasn’t small enough to comfortably use one handed so i figured why sacrifice screen size, cameras and especially battery life if im still going to be stretching to reach corners. I ultimately ended up with the 13P and adjusting to the added size and weight was rather easy. Its still very much a phone where I’m stretching fingers to reach the extremities of the display.

I’m nervous about the 13 ProMax but my daughter promises that it won’t take more than a few days to fall in love. I think that I use my X with 2 hands 90% of the time.

with Safari’s new address bar at the bottom I should have fewer stretching issues.

Coming from the 12 mini and picked up the 13 pro the size for me is just perfect. I love the size of the mini better but the pro has better features and camera to make it perfect.

A lot of people like PopSockets. I've never tried one but it looks like it could help you?
