I got a USGS text alert at 12:51, but felt nothing in the Twin Cities. :(

Any damage?

Wife and I are in Upland, CA - we felt it enough for it to shake our apartment that we're in (3rd floor). Lasted a good 15 seconds too. Family in Northridge, Pasadena, and further east in San Bernardino felt it really well.

Here in Ventura the pool sloshed out, my aquarium fish got a thrill, and a lot of car alarms. Roller type quake that lasted about 30 seconds for me. Was surprised as far away as I am.
Here is a map shot for a better visual (distance):

I’ll text the neighbor cancelling my tsunami warning. Thank you!
Save those for when you cannonball the pool.

There's a healthy gap between the water level and the leading edge of our pool. I don't think some of our neighbors were as lucky. People further than you felt it. It caught me by surprise because we haven't had earthquakes like this in maybe a decade. I was lucky in all the time I kept aquatic life we never had earthquakes that would cause damage to the structure of a tank or worse. That said, I wonder if that thing about animals is true and not poppycock because some of the neighbors pets were behaving strangely this week. Entranced or zoned out to be specific.

Did your fish shout, “bansai”?

That’s Southern California? With all those red lines it resembles my left leg.

African Cichlids (fish type): The look from them was more like “why did you stop?” ;)
[doublepost=1562267233][/doublepost]Not seeing anything on my feeds yet but local news is starting to report some damage and injuries (via AP) in the area of the quake.

Thing that concerns me is that is has been a very quite (6.0 and higher) decade. Hope nature isn’t looking to catch up.

Amputate it.

Really? '14 had a series of small quakes but I don't recall anything in the time since that stands out. I doubt we'll see another 8.0 anytime soon, and if we do, it won't do the damage it did the first time around. OTOH, I could really go for Dodge Stadium collapsing on itself when it's empty and no one's around in the offices.

Let the African Cichlids know I heard there’s a 50% chance of a 5.0 or higher aftershock coming. And a 5% chance that the 6.6 was a pre-shock with a stronger one coming.

SRS?

Going through the news before I go out and baste the BBQ, but I laughed at some photos the 'local' stations picked off of ****ter and it's photos of people's mismanaged garages with a tagline of "Shelving failed for this homeowner," not a shelving unit to be seen.

Was looking at the historic data in my earthquake app. We have had very few >6 in the last decade plus. Normal we get like 6-8 per decade.

I was living in Sonoma County during Loma Prieta. Since I was so far away the low frequency waves felt like I was on a boat. I ran outside to stand in the yard and watched the waves pass under my feet and condominium building.

I’m sacrificing brats to the bbq gods today. And having watermelon margaritas.

Just saw Dr. Lucy Jones from CalTech on the news giving the rundown on this. She is absolutely the best at breaking this all down so the average person understands what is going on. She is always so calm and reassuring.

I remember seeing her on the news after the 1992 Joshua Tree earthquakes with her baby. I think she did not have a babysitter, so just brought him to work with her and did live broadcasts holding her son.

My wife and I always enjoy watching her interact with the press. We watched her not too long after the earthquake today. Very cool picture. Thank you.

I was 200 miles west of the epicenter, but didn't feel the quake at all. It seems the shock waves traveled north and south more than west.

I am 139 miles WSW from the epicenter and we had what felt like a good 30 second roller. Vegas felt it pretty well too.
Think you got lucky with the geology in your area. ;) You missed out on your Cali Massage. :D
