my first phone in Apple is iPhone 6 Plus , later upgraded to iPhone 7 Plus, wanted to upgrade to iPhone X last year but didn’t like the screen size of x after checking the phone in store . Even though the specs say 5.8 it was way too clumsy to my iPhone 7 Plus
Now after seeing the iPhone XS max launch I thought this would certainly be my next iphone model but after checking in store I still feel my iPhone 7 Plus is better in terms of the width of the screen ( I feel 7 plus has much content than iPhone XS and is more ‘readable’)

I would have felt more happy if the width little bit more compared to what it is now on XS max and they can reduce the height a bit )
Is the space next to the notch do any better other than physically increasing the screen size?

Apple , Can I except a more width on 2019 iPhone please

The overall phone height of the Max is slightly smaller than your 7 Plus and the width compared to the 8 Plus only decreased from 78.1mm to 77.4. That is not even one entire millimeter and part of that 0.7mm is offset by a slightly smaller bezel. I wonder if the increased height of the screen itself has created an illusion to you regarding the width?
