6 core 8g ram or 8 core 16g ram for DAW

I will inevitably be purchasing a new 2010 mac pro; but my question is whether to purchase a 6 core mac with 8g of ram or a 8 core with 16g of ram for DAW. They both are relatively the same price and I understand a faster clock speed is preferable. But is twice as much ram better than that faster clock?
