Been having LTE signal strength problems on my iPhone 6 lately, also bouncing between LTE-3G-1X and no service.

Note that I am 10+ miles from the nearest tower, so distance to the tower is certainly a problem. The question is whether the phone is also part of the problem, and if so how to fix it.

I am using an unlocked Sprint phone running iOS 10.3.3 on Verizon. The phone will typically hold an LTE signal as long as I am streaming content, but if I am surfing the web or doing something else intermittent, it will frequently lose the LTE signal. The effect is independent of weather.

--I have contacted Verizon tech support, and they suggested that the problem might be that my phone is an ex-Sprint phone. Anything in this?

--They also suggested that I should upgrade to iOS 11. (I am leery of doing so because I've heard from several people that 6s run slowly on 11.) Anything in this? E.g. does 11 use different algorithms for modulating signal amplifier gain?

--What about upgrading to a newer model?

Welcome all thoughts. Happy also to provide more info. Have tried using field test mode, but lack the expertise to interpret the results.
