Laptop turning on when closed

Hi,

When my laptop is on I close the lid to put it into sleep. The apple light is then turned off. Starting today, after a bit I hear the hard drive buzz and I see the apple light go on. If I open the computer the screen is on, then without touchin anything it goes black.

Any idea what is happening?

perhaps irregularitys with the sensor in the hinge that says its closed or not, or some other hardware malfunction.
i highly suggest to take your computer to a genius bar to take a look at it, if the problem persists mulitple times
