Is it worth the $300, is anyone making the bump? This computer will be my primary computer for work and pleasure. I'm a developer(web and mac/iphone) and hopefully it's powerful enough to place some modern games in bootcamp. Should I just go with the faster one so it lasts me longer? :D Are there any benchmarks on this?

I went with the 2.93Ghz, should make rendering in the field 10% quicker, every little bit helps! Anyone wanting a like-new 2.53Ghz Unibody MBP?

The longest compile time I've seen so far is around 30 seconds on my white macbook now so can't imagine that the speed would be that much better since it's probably going to be a big jump anyways.

One more thing, eBay for AppleCare. There are several dedicated AppleCare sellers on there.

Ah, didn't know you could purchase it through a third party. Cool. I have an "in" too, my fiancee's best friend's husband is a genius so at least I have that outlet too.

But you film edit; it's actually useful to you. To the rest of us (who don't really need it), we don't need it.

Kind of off topic, but I notice Intel is selling 3MB L2 Cache 2.53GHz CPUs now, so are we expect the 15" to be switched to that version now?

Well the OP DID ask if anyone was making the bump. I AM making the bump, and explained why...

If you need the bump, you know it.

If you don't know for sure that you need the bump, you don't need it.

The SSD or 8GB of RAM (once prices are reasonable) will make *far* more real-world difference to almost all users.
