Does anyone know the cost of repairing a superdrive at the Apple Store when it's out of warranty?

Mine is making weird sounds and not reading any disks. Thanks.

I don't know how much Apple would charge, but it would probably be cheaper to buy it off eBay and change it yourself.

taking your macbook to the applestore can be likened to taking your car to the dealership... warranty work only! no warranty, take it to a reliable mechan... I mean computer tech.

like the other folks said, you can do this yourself if you want.

Thanks for the advice. I'll look for superdrive's on ebay.

If anyone knows the price at the Apple Store please let me know. Now I'm just curious :)

I'm curious about the price too my drive has been dead for months. I'm too scared to open the case and replace it myself. I think I just might buy an external one...

Cost to replace superdrive at Apple store

My local dealer's service man says about $320 - Springfield, MO.
This was last week.
