Unibody MBP - keyboard touches the screen

Hello,
it's not that bad bad after some time, I can see some prints of my keyboard on the screen of my MBP.


Does it also happen to you ?

See, I think that's just poor design. The old macbooks, and I think the pros never suffered from this problem. The switch to the glass panel hasn't helped.
 
Also with my Unibody MBP, the keyboard touches the screen when the lid is closed. Unfortunately, Apple wants to produce the thinnest laptop in the world, so 1mm more for avoiding that is too much.

agreed. Have no idea what he was talking about.

As for preventing that from happening, get a thin, clean microfiber or cotton cloth and place it over the keyboard. Will stop your keyboard from pressing up against the screen.
 
Your MBP shipped with a thin semi-translucent sheet of paper between the keyboard and the screen, cut out to match the shape of the MBP.

Just use that if you don't want your screen to get dirty. (Providing you still have the sheet of course)
 
Had a late 2006 Macbook Pro that had this same thing, so it's not just the unibody.

So far I haven't seen it in my unibody just yet :p...
 
These screens are very thin so they bend into the keyboard a bit when the MBP in my bag (especially where there are a few textbooks in the bag), and fingerprints transfer into the screen. I find that wiping your keyboard clean before transporting the MBP helps....

It's defiantly not just an MBP issue, I've had it happen on my previous laptops.
 
The nice thing though with the glass screens is that this doesn't leave a permanent mark like the old matte LCD's used to. You look at anyone's older laptop (a lot more with Dells/HPs/etc) and you'll see keyboard marks on their monitors. At least they'll wipe off the glass screen pretty easily.
