Looks like it'll still be limited to those models with the 64-bit drivers and kernel extensions.
Atleast my MacBook5,1 works like a charm in 64bit kernel. Nothings faster though, so no real point in using it. Btw, GeekBench 64bit version score on 32bit kernel was 3183 and on 64bit kernel 3190.
 
I noticed my Geekbench score perked up from ~2930 to around ~3100. There was a noticeable gain in the float performance in 10.6.0.
