64 bit vs. 32 bit

Ok this is kind of a big question I guess but what makes 64bit (software, the G5 processor, etc) better than 32 bit? I mean I know its better, mainly from everyone saying so. But why is it better? Is it faster or something?

64-bit chips can process twice the the size of data (64 bits instead of 32) per clock cycle. obviousl;y you can see the benefit. also a 64 bit processor can address more memory. 16exabytes as opposed to 4gb.

word processing this doesnt matter...but when we are talking about coding video and sound or games... this is a big deal. and future possibilities are vastly expanded
