OK. Here is the groundwork. I have a Mac Mini (2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 8GB of RAM). I have generally been a Chrome user on PC since day 1, and have been using it on my Mac for almost as long. Both seem to function OK, but I have a question about memory usage.
When using Chrome 32bit, all my open tabs in Activity Monitor add up to about 600-800MB on average. When using sometimes far less tabs with Safari, I am often in the 1.2-1.5GB range. However, my available RAM in Activity Monitor always appears to be more when using Safari 64bit and MORE RAM.
Is this a 64bit vs 32bit issue? I see more RAM usage by Safari and I obsess about the machine slowing down, however I almost think it feels a little lighter. Not sure what is happening... or if it is having a placebo effect on me.
Thanks.
