How does last year's GPU stack up to the new one?

Thinking of getting the previous 15'' retina, it's much cheaper and battery life is not important to me (plus the only other thing that entices me is the option for a 222 GB bigger ssd).

Any impressions on gaming performance?

Half this forum is waiting on concrete benchmarks from the likes of Anandtech about this very topic.

They are basically the same card aside from clock speed and amount of GDDR5 RAM, I expect anywhere from 5-15% depending on the game. Buying the Ivy based system is still perfectly good, you wont be missing out by much at all.
