Megahertz myth
Yes, the speed of the CPU (central processing unit) is measured in gigahertz (GHz). RAM (random access memory) on the other hand is measured in gigabytes (GB). Hard drive size is also measured in gigabytes. A good analogy goes like:
Imagine a warehouse worker who has to transfer boxes from one place to another. The speed at which he can move boxes is analogous CPU speed of a computer. The number of boxes he can carry at once is analogous to the RAM of a computer. The size warehouse is analogous to the hard drive space of the computer. This is all directly analogous to how computers move information back and forth. All facets are important.
Then you can talk about the GPU (graphics processing unit) and it's speed and memory and such. It is concerned with how images (or information) is transferred to the display screen. That is also very important.
But, regardless of all that stuff, any new Apple computer you might get is going to have very nice all around features. 2.0 GHz vs. 2.4 GHz CPU speeds is going to translate to fractions of a second difference in pretty much most applications.
