hello,

quick question, if i buy the $69 usb lion thumb drive from apple, am I am to do a clean install the way it was listed when lion was released on the app store?

or would i be better to d/l lion from the app store and put the .dmg file on a thumb drive of my own and do it that way?

the monetary aspect does not matter to me, just wondering with apples $69 lion thumb drive if i can plug in the drive restart and hold down the option key and do the clean install that way?

thank you for your time and help

If you make your own or buy Apple's USB key, they will be the same. You can boot from either one to do a clean install.

I just did this yesterday.

Use an 8GB flash drive and copy the .dmg to it. Option-start and you're set. No issues at all.

just another apple overpriced option

kinda of like how they charge 200-400 for 8GB of RAM when it costs $50 everywhere else

the drive they sell for $70 does the exact same as the DMG file route
