6mb l2 cache and 512vRam not worth it?

Firstly the video ram cannot be fully taken advantage of because the 9600m GT is only 128bit.

The 6MB l2 cache on the 2.53 vs the 3mb cache on the 2.4 realistically doesnt improve much. Only the processor increase in speed will help in benchmarks, but hardly any.

Am I wrong with my assumptions? Base model seems to be the way to go!

after about a day of research, I am drawing the same conclusion as you are. I think the best way to spend that savings is on the 4gigs of ram and a 7200RPM HDD. I think that will make a bigger difference than the 6MB L2 and the extra VRAM

That would just be crazy if it is.

Apple has to have a reason for this?

mscofield..what were saying is that the value in the lower end model is much higher than the higher end model. Of course the 2.53ghz vs the 2.4ghz will make a bit of difference, but its really not worth that much
