6S - popping on my earphones?

On my new 6S I have been experiencing some minor static here and there. I usually hear it if I am not playing any sound on my phone and I lock the screen. A few seconds later I'll hear a short pop as if the circuit to the earphones was cut. Its something similar to what I hear on my MBP too when I stop playing sound through my headphones and a few seconds later a soft pop.

Is this normal?

Mine does this too. Pretty sure they didn't shield the headphone jack properly from electronic interference.

I honestly think its just the circuit turning itself off to save power.

If anyone is willing to try

Plug in EarPods. Open music app. Don't play anything. Close it. Lock your phone. About 10 secs later you'll hear a soft pop in your EarPods.
