If you're on the fence about upgrading from an older iPhone, maybe this will help. I upgraded to 11Pro from 6s. Owned the 6s since launch day.
11Pro arrived Friday. At first, I was not excited because of how heavy and less ergonomic the phone felt compared to the 6s.
24 hours, I'm starting to say 'you know what, this isn't that bad'. Fast forward to today and I am in love with the 11Pro.
Below is a breakdown of the categories that have had the biggest impact on me so far.
Speed - Probably the biggest contributor to my love for this phone. Whether it's scrolling through applications, opening my Bank app, opening the camera, closing a Safari web page, placing a simple phone call (6s took 15 seconds to begin ringing), browsing the web, opening up Spotify; everything I throw it at it, it does in lightning speed compared to the 6s.
I can't emphasize enough how much of a difference the A13 chip makes on my daily life vs the A9. I believe I spend less time on the 11Pro than my 6S because I'm able to get tasks done quicker. Jumping on the phone to pay bills via Bank app, or signing onto Venmo to pay a friend, it's easily 75% faster for me to perform these tasks.
Camera - This is equivalent to how the speed of the A13 impacted me. This camera has taught me how incredibly terrible the 6s camera really is/was. Taking pics/videos is more fun than it's ever been for me. I find myself pulling out the camera more often than I ever did with the 6s. There isn't much more to say here. If you're on the fence about upgrading from a 6s or something similar, you'll truly be blown away at the camera capabilities.
Screen - I picked up my 6s in the kitchen the other day for fun and this is when I realized how dated the screen is on the 6s. You never notice these things until you spend time with something of better quality. Similar to how you might not think 4K TV is much better than 1080p until you spend a few days watching 4K TV, and then go back to a 1080P. Huge upgrade here and absolutely in love with the technology of this screen. The contract, the blacks, the colors, it's mind blowing!
Speakers - Wow. I honestly can't believe how good these speakers are. I have never used an iPhone X, but compared to the 6s? It's laughable how bad the 6s is/was. I actually never realized too how much I would appreciate better speakers on the phone. One might say 'who uses the speakers on the phone'? ... I'm a big fan of sitting in the living room watching YouTube videos, movie trailers, etc using the speakers instead of headphones. Or maybe I'm laying in bed watching sports highlights. At the end of the day, the improvement on the speaker end is worth every penny I paid.
Face ID - I'll admit, I was a hater. I complained endlessly about dropping TouchID, and now I can honestly say I never wanna go back. Face ID is amazing. It works great and it's easier than TouchID. Love everything about it.
Detractors
Home Button - Now on the Home Button front, I'm not as excited. Trying to scroll up to open applications so I can close them out has become hit or miss. Sometimes I get it on the first one, other times I don't. This has become a nuisance and I prefer a button there instead (I heard you can add a button the display or something through settings? I need to check this out)
Control Center - Why?! Why was this moved back to where you scroll downwards from the top and why do you have to scroll from the top corner? Turning the flashlight on now is a complete disaster. On the 6S, you swiped up, and tapped the flashlight icon and it came on immediately; it took less than 2 seconds. With the 11Pro, you have to either hold the flashlight button, or bring the CC down and tap it. Absolutely hate this.
Size/Ergonomics - Much prefer the size of the 6s. The 11Pro is pretty awkward to hold and you can't do everything using one hand anymore . The 6S was the perfect size. I don't need a bigger screen than a 6s and I think many agree. Not a huge deal but if I could a 11pro with a 6s size, I'd be in heaven.
In conclusion, I went from super excited to 'Oh no, I don't like this phone', to 'This is the greatest phone ever'. The pros outweigh the negatives in my case and I am more than happy to have spent what I spent on this phone. If any of the above categories are impacting your decision on upgrading, maybe this post could be of help to you.
Other notes:
I wouldn't worry much about the 5G thing - 5G isn't relevant everywhere and won't be for a while. Also, when do you ever find you need more speed? I can pull up a YouTube video in the highest quality and it plays immediately. There is nothing I do on my phone that is held back by speed. I think some people are hyping 5Gs impact on phones a bit too much but maybe that's just me.
Last thoughts.
The camera has made photography fun again, and the speed is helping me be more productive. The upgrade made a positive impact on my life
