After updating to 7.1.1, my iPhone 5 started to overheat frequently (almost on daily basis). Battery behaviour also became very erratic and unreliable: it can drop from 25% to 1% within half an hour or simply shutdown around 33%.

I never had those issues before 7.1.1, but I wonder if it's just a coincidence. A bunch of apps I use released updates around the same time as 7.1.1 came out, so may be one of them is responsible.

Something is getting stuck in a loop and causing the system to not be able to sleep. Restore it and see if that corrects the problem. If it does not, restore and set up as a new phone.

Thanks, I'll try that.

I would think that a bad battery would have shown itself long before the upgrade to 7.1.1. In any case I think a fresh start would help. My iPhone 4 dev test device get's pretty hot during app testing after 7.1.1 as well but it's not a daily driver so I haven't thought much about it. I might restore mine as well to see if that helps. My iPhone 5 dev device is doing fine after 7.1.1.

Let us all know if that worked for you, I'm sure there are other solutions. The physical battery would be an odd coincidence.

My iphonr 5 had not a battery problem, but when i am using it a lot, it gets really hot... I seriously would like to know what problem it is!

My i5 gets a lot hotter whilst charging with 7.1.1 and has always been hotter in use since 7.0
