Since 7.1.1 if I click on the bottom portion of a browser page, the task bar doesn't always appear (the one with bookmarks and tabs etc) and I have to click the top portion of the browser to make it appear. Prior to 7.1.1 this taskbar always appeared whether I touched the top *or* bottom of the screen. Is it a bug? The fact that it works intermittently suggests to me that it is.

Still seems to work the same either way for me as well.

7.1.1 Safari change/issue

I haven't worked out yet if it's certain websites or not, but I absolutely run into this admittedly small issue on a regular basis.

I guess you might have to go through all that restart, restore, etc routine to see if it can be fixed but it's certainly not a universal issue.

I won't bother with all that for such a trivial issue...but it's nice to know that it's just me again lolz.

Some websites like Macgasm will lock your browser from bringing up or leaving the UI. It's strange and I didn't know iOS 7 Safari implemented this feature.

Go view macgasm.com to see what I mean.

That's exactly what I'm talking about, well done for posting an example :)
This same thing happens on certain other sites I visit, and I thought it was a bug.

It's a feature added in iOS 7.1.

Search for minimal-ui on this page: https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/releasenotes/General/RN-iOSSDK-7.1/

Yet more inconsistencies then. I shouldn't have to 'gamble' on something being there or not, it's a waste of a screen press. I may as well just assume that the bottom task bar isn't going to be there.

It's more complicated than that.

There are some mobile websites that attempt to act as much like apps as possible. Some devs are also attempting to deliver mobile games inside the browser. The auto-hiding toolbar/address bar in iOS7 caused a lot of problems with these sorts of web sites and the new 'minimal-ui' flag appears to be intended to help fix this.

Unfortunately Macgasm are using the flag inappropriately because their site is a pretty standard mobile web site; it doesn't provide all the necessary UI within the browser.
