I noticed a few changes on my 5s since upgrading to 7.1.
Would love to get some feedback as I haven't seen this listed.
when on a call, lte goes off and 3G turns on. Never happened before. So was wondering if it's a new feature. Maybe to save battery? Lte returns right after call ends.

Im on bell if that makes a difference.

I'm on iO6.1, Sprint - CDMA. Drops to 3G for calls every time. LTE is only for data. At least until Sprint gets VoLTE.

That never happened before with 7.0
With Bell, its like att that you can talk and surf at the same time.

1 more change I forgot to mention. all my cheap knock lightning chargers no longer work on 7.1

No Voice over LTE just yet so that's normal behavior. You probably just haven't noticed it happening before. Either that or the older firmware wasn't reporting the correct connection speed before when you were on a call.

What about 3rd party lightning chargers? Mine stopped working on the upgrade to 7.1.

I get the same message thats its not genuine but dosent charge.

Mine too actually with 7.0.4
But I installed a hack from cydia and even though I get the message accessory not supported it still charges with the knockoff wires.
On stock firmware the wire is useless like yours.

Here in chile it's a bit different, when a call is recieved, the iphone turns off every data connection, even Edge ._. and after the call is done the data came back on.

Probably becuase people keep getting killed using the stupid knock off chargers. But my dad has a 5s and uses a knock off charger but his still works on 7.1

iPhones (any model) can't do data and voice at the same time on CDMA networks.

It'll drop from LTE to nothing.

Yeah, I know that. But that's my point. The original topic was about the phone dropping to 3G. The fact that I'm on a CDMA carrier is immaterial. Whether GSM or CDMA, phone calls aren't occuring over LTE. So, the original point that this was due to the 7.1 update is moot. I was simply offering my experience as a fact to the discussion. Technically, mine drops to 1xRTT for voice, but anyway.
