Using the "Audio Midi Setup" utility you can create your own custom setup. Im not certain if this will work for your needs. but worth a try.

Boom! I forgot a HUGE detail, I was talking in bootcamp.
In mac it's ok. Really easy with Audio Midi Setup
But in Windows...
I play to BF3 and my rear are &$$@ Up

Forget it W7 in bootcamp are not complete. I found a lot of lack in that setup of windows. If you are a huge user of windows, forget bootcamp and buy a dell or hp.

For vlc in mac for get a real dts 5.1, you need to check in audio parameter: spdif if possible

About lack in bootcamp,
1. Dts are totally wrong
2. Videocard (ati) need to be kind of hack and you need to install older model If not you can't change the scale of the second screen and result to shrinked size
3. Imac is a huge laptop - the ati 6970m are less performant than a nvidia 460 gtx. Probably more like a 450...
If you choice 2gb for the video card, it's like throw 100$ through the window

4. Write on mac partition... Forget it. I tried Paragon Hfs+ and I just lose 20 bukes. Soon as you return to mac side, the drive are not recognize and need to be reformated..
