I have a 700mhz white ibook, and purchased the restore cd's The system has os x and os 9.2 on it. When I tried to use the restore cd's the machine said I could not perform this operation. Can anyone tell me what I did wrong.

Are the restore CDs designed for the same model of iBook? I heard that the restore CDs only work with the specific machine they came with. Don't know if they are serial number specific though.

It is only specific to the model type. So you need to use iBook model restore disks on your iBook. If the CDs came with a PowerMac or PB, or any other Mac, they wont work on the iBook.

Are you putting the CD in the Tray, and holding down C when you push the power button to turn on the Mac, and continuing to hold down C till the Mac boots off the CD?

I have the restore cd's that go with this particular model. I beleive I found my problem, but I am still unsure what the point or purpose is for the Software restore Cd's.(4 of them)
