have installed windows 7 RC using bootcamp and installed all ok (running via 10.5.7)

however, when i try to install windows drivers from OSX DVD (10.5.1 retail), it says it only works with XP or Vista and then it jumps straight to the finish window.

how do i install the windows drivers?

macbook pro 2.4Ghz C2D

hardware is irrelevant though? as it's the bootcamp drivers i'm having an issue with.

not it doesn't, as at step 19 mine doesn't continue like the walkthru.

mine stops and says that these drivers will only install on XP or Vista and then the installation terminates.

i downloaded that EXE file update whilst in windows (as the wifi worked)... but when i tried to run it, it did nothing at all (the UAC prompt came and granted permission, but nothing after that).

Ok thats what happens when the setup is unable to detect any other Boot Camp installs. which of course because it wont install :p

The drivers are in that "BCUpdateVista32.exe" file

This is going to get ugly but I promise it will work,

Download and install 7-Zip from here

this is the tool you will be using to extract the drivers from the file "BCUpdateVista32.exe".

Right click on "BCUpdateVista32.exe" and choose 7-Zip> extract files...

extract them to wherever you want. for demonstration sake I am going to extract them to "C:\BCDrivers\"

so once the extraction completes you should see 2 files, "BCUpdateVista32.msp" and "BCLocUpdateEnable.exe"

extract "BCUpdateVista32.msp" the same way you did with "BCUpdateVista32.exe". Right click extract... and extract that to a subfolder
I extracted it to "C:\BCDrivers\BCUpdateVista32\"

inside "C:\BCDrivers\BCUpdateVista32\" there is a folder "BootCamp20ToBootCamp205" in that folder are all the drivers... to install them you need to extract each one, yes each Binary.* file is a driver.

Example Binary.Nvidia_graphics_Bin is the video drivers, if you extract that file to "C:\BCDrivers\BCUpdateVista32\BootCamp20ToBootCamp205\NvidiaDriver\"

or into another folder you will see a setup.exe and you can install the video driver with that exe... now you will have to do that with almost every other binary file... :)

this will work but it might be a little bit of a painful process.

let me know how it goes

got the sound, trackpad and bluetooth working (wifi and video drivers were applied via windows update).

can't get isight working, driver said it installed but device manager still has exclamation mark next to it.

Got win 7 in english? If you haven't got english US thing in win 7 bootcamp drivers won't install. I had in Swedish, got that problem, then I read on some site you just have to change language/region thing. It worked for me.

Make sure you install the chipset drivers before you try the iSight install.

The file is "Binary.Newer_Intel_graphics_Bin"

it also installs the drivers for the intel onboard video cards, even though your computer doesnt have a intel video card.... look at the read me for details.

you might have success finding newer ones online on the intel website.

if yours is like mine, which I think it is... 2.4 Ghz Nvidia 8600GT, Santa rosa platform... it will have intel 965 mobile chipset.

The default installer for bootcamp installs everything out of the box... all the drivers even if you dont have the hardware

You should just install 64-bit. Use your proc. to its fullest extent!

I tried to install x64 of Windows 7 RC1, but it would not boot from the install CD.... I was able to install Beta1 no problems....

I haven't had the time to research it but I want to definitely try it again

"this operating system is not supported" when i tried to install that.

Some copies of windows 7 rc need patching

If your copy of windows 7 doesnt boot via bootcamp installer , you need to patch it.

I dont have the link but you need to update its boot files to work with efi properly.

I am running RC 7100 on a Macbook Pro late 2007 with NO issues at all.
I used the bootcamp drivers on my leopard dvd - version 10.5
This is the 64bit version as well.

I then installed Bootcamp 2.1 that I downloaded off a torrent.

My sound would not work until I used my leopard dvd installer.

It might have something to due with you having an SR MBP. I'm not kidding. It's retarded, I know. Your comp can totally handle 64-bit and Windows 7, it's just that Apple is very spotty on drivers. I'm not sure if your Leopard disc came with 64-bit drivers. A lot of people are having trouble with this same thing.

As far as sound goes, get the latest driver here (the top link, HD audio codec).

Here's a direct link to that post he's talking about.

i don't have a bootcamp.msi file

i do have a BCUpdateVista32.mcp file though

You need to use your Leopard install disk or the disk that came with your Mac. The file you download is only an update not the full install.

starting to feel like it's not worth the hassle !

why are some people able to install straight off the leopard DVD without any problems?
