A 71-year-old man from Japan has reportedly become the oldest person to climb to the summit of Mount Everest.

Retired teacher Katsusuke Yanagisawa scaled the 8,850m (29,035ft) Himalayan peak, breaking the record set by a 70-year-old Japanese man in May 2006.

And summit doesn't have to be a verb. :cool:

The evolotion of words: e.g. "Google it" "YouTubed" although reaching the summit of everest is scarcely the same level of task. :p



That guy is amazing. To think, I get annoyed if I have to walk to my car in the rain. :eek:
 
Wow! And here I was just telling one of my classes about a 17 year old, thus youngest, that just made it to the summit of Mount Everest. All I can say about this 71-year old gentleman who did the same thing is OUTSTANDING (bows deeply to the person)! :)
