I purchased a PowerBook (12" 1GHz) thru Amazon.com a couple of weeks ago. I decided I wanted it a little bit quicker, so even though I had the offer for free shipping, I decided to pay the extra $15 and have the thing in my hands quicker. This, however, has proved to be a terrible mistake.
The machine was shipped from Bartlett, TN (c/o Ingram-Micro, apparently Amazon's fufillment partner) on May 3rd. I'm in Baton Rouge, LA. The machine was scheduled for delivery on May 4th, as its only like a 5 hour drive to Bartlett. Well, the machine was scanned in Jackson, MS for an arrival scan on May 4th at about 12 in the morning. That was the last anybody ever saw of it.
When it didn't arrive on the 4th, I called UPS and they told me that I should wait till the end of the business day and if it still doesn't arrive, give them a call in the morning so they could initiate a tracer on the package.
On the 5th, it hadn't arrived so I called UPS and issued a tracer. They weren't very helpful, were rather mean about it, and told me it could take up to 8 business days to complete. This wouldn't be a problem... if I wasn't moving. See, I'm at college right now, and I'm going home for the summer on May 14th, which is when the 8 business days are up. UPS refuses to forward the package to my family's home for security reasons and Amazon cannot change the name on the package.
If the package comes after May 14th, it'll either be delivered to my apartment's front desk and never seen again or refused and will take Amazon decades to process my refund. If it was lost in the hands of UPS, it'll take decades to process my refund with their whole tracer investigation and subsequently their claims processing crapola
Now, I've already put a dispute on the charge from Amazon due to all of this stuff, at least until the issue is resolved. Does anybody have any suggestions as to what I could do or who I could call to speed this whole damn process up, so I won't have a $1394 charge on my card and have no computer or get my computer by the 14th, or speed up UPS's investigation?
HELP!
