I am running my Mac Mini with Plex into my Samsung hpt5054 Plasma (non-1080) TV and I am getting very thin white lines on the left and right side of the plasma picture, 2-3pixels thick, running from the top of the screen to the bottom. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

My TV's resolution is 1365 x 768 and my mac mini is detecting that resolution as well as Plex. If it matters its the newest version of the $599 Mac Mini and I am running the mini-display port to dvi, and then a dvi to hdmi cable into the tv. Everything about the picture looks fantastic, correct sizes, clarity etc, but the little thin white lines on the L and R side of the screen are driving me crazy. I called Samsung's tech support line but they were no help.

Thanks

lines on tv w. mac mini

I had a westinhouse 1080 lcd tv hooked up to a mac mini, back in january it showed a definite black line running vertical down right side, otherwise same as you described. I was perplexed, calling help, flipping through manuals, etc. then I noticed that my roommates watched this tv on constrained format, which leaves solid black spaces on each side to fit whole, undistorted image on screen. I saw edge of the black space lined up exactly where black line was running down right side. I had nothing else to go on, so I told roommates not to use that format, put it on over scan or fill screen, wether using cable tv or computer for movies net etc, and black line appears to have 95% faded.

So in short perhaps its burn in. If thats what it is, you maybe able to "blow it out" with full screen images, I think apple display manuals/online help describe how to alternate images to eliminate it. Mostly.

Hope that helps, good luck.
