External Hard Drive - Time to make a decision

Okay, time to stop obsessing and make a decision. After advice I've received here (thanks for everyone's help), I've decided on a 1TB drive, USB 2.0. This if to use Time Machine to back up two iMac G5s (PPC, with iSight), plus occasional back up of a Summer 2007 MBP - using Airport Extreme. Price is an issue but I don't want to make the mistake of only going on price. I've narrowed it down to:

-Seagate FreeAgent Desk
-Western Digital My Book Essential
-Iomega Prestige Desktop

I know there are fans of each of these, and all drives fail at some point. But would love to get some final advice (pros, cons) for each so I can make a decision! I'm leaning toward the Seagate but open to any and all input.

Start up a pole? My vote goes to the Western Digital, may I ask why you have not considered a LaCie drive?

My vote would go probably towards the Western Digital, although I have had no problems with my Iomega UltraMax Pro, my main concern with it though is the limited cache size, however I use it solely for back up.

And like always:

Everyone has their own experiences, but I imagine that most of them are positive. Sure, there are these threads about how person x's drive failed and person y wouldn't buy anything but them. I own three drives that there are plenty of horror stories about.

No one would ever post: "I love my Western Digital 1TB Drive", unless someone posts a horror story about one. Companies ship tons of drives daily, not everyone will be perfect.

The best advice is to find one that has a good warranty and excellent customer service. And then avoid reading these threads so you don't lose any sleep.

Or you could be OCD, anal and paranoid like me and have two back-up drives .

I read a lot about failures with LaCie and had to narrow down somehow - but of course I'm open to other ideas !

I understand that if I wanted to use Airport Extreme I'd have to connect through USB.

A, I didn't know you are going to use it with APExtr.

Mind you, this way you won't be getting more than 7-8 MB/sec for wireless N transferes.

Oh dear. Found another possibility. Now I'm leaning toward this one... am I nuts or what?
