720/1080P on new iPad pls help

Hi guys,
I'm new to e forum n is my 1st post. Singapore is launching e new iPad same date as in U.S. b4 I rush dwn to purchase e new beauty I really need answers in regards to e ability of e new iPad when handling 720p or 1080p mkv without converting with apps like avplayerHD or ecplayer.
Play back of 720p mkv in avplayerHd in iPad 2 is still somehow choppy. Ecplayer can handle rm files but not hd rmvb.
