Hello!


I just bought a cable that lets me hook my macbook pro to my hdtv (720) using hdmi.

the picture... it's alright. text looks aweful! pictures look okay...

is there anyway to improve the picture quality?

i have display pref's set to 1280x720....

About the only thing you can do is play around with the resolutions to see which one looks the best. Problem is that the TV and the MacBook Pro have 2 different native resolutions. This may all change with Leopard....
 
Are you sure the TV's native resolution is 1280x720. Many "720p" sets aren't. For example, I have my iMac connected to a 1360x768 HDTV running at native res via the VGA port.

You might also need something like SwitchResX to tweak the timings.
