I am planning for my new MacBook Pro Retina purchase later in June once Haswell is implemented into the Macs. I am going to need an external hard drive because I plan to be doing a lot of video editing. My question is would there be any difference in speed between a 7200 RPM external hard drive running on USB 3.0 vs Thunderbolt? I know Thunderbolt is a lot faster, but wouldn't USB 3.0 be capable of faster speeds than the drive itself can read/write? Also if anyone knows of some good 7200 RPM USB 3.0 External hard drives, I would be more than happy to hear about them below. Thanks.

You will hardly even note a difference between SSDs running USB3 vs TB. There is not much reason in going TB for a HDD, given the price difference.

And haswell don't be imemented macs in June or summer. More late fall or early winter.
